Why Young Living?

Why Young Living

When I signed up with Young Living almost a year ago, I knew that I liked essential oils, but I took the word of a family member and a friend that Young Living was a great company with quality oils. I hadn’t tried all 11 oils in the Premium Starter Kit. I had only tried 3. I signed up knowing that I was joining a great company, but there was much more I would soon learn.
As I started reading about the company and watching videos, I was impressed with the quality of Young Living’s products. Young Living is the only company with the Seed to Seal Promise. This means that the seeds that they choose are of the highest quality to produce the best plants possible. They are planted in perfectly cared-for soil. The plants and soils are never treated with chemicals or pesticides. All insect-control is done with unused oils that are put back onto the fields. Weed control is done by hand. The plants are harvested at just the right time when they are at their best. Distillation is done on site, and Young Living only uses first distillation. This is very important. First distillation is like the first pot of coffee. Second distillation would be if you pour water into your coffee pot but use the same grounds. Many companies sell oils that are from the second or third distillation, so the oil is much less potent. The oil undergoes rigorous testing, which is done on-site, as well as sent to unbiased third parties for testing also. The oil that is bottled is guaranteed to be the highest quality and the purest oil possible. Many companies can state that their essential oil is 100% pure. However, since there are no strict guidelines, this can be stated when there is as little as 5% actual essential oil. The rest of the bottle could be filled with synthetics, additives, and fillers. Young Living promises that their oil is 100% pure. Nothing is in that bottle except what is stated on the label.
Young Living also owns their own farms worldwide, which gives them total control over their product. And they partner with other farms for some of their oils, and these farms must adhere to Young Living’s strict guidelines also.
Young Living goes above and beyond to prove that they are of the highest quality and purity. They have much information available, and they have their farms open to the public to see in person how they operate.
I am also impressed with the founder and owner of Young Living, Gary Young. Gary has been making essential oils for 30 years, and has been in business as Young Living for 22 years. He is a kind and sincere man who cares about what he’s doing. He cares about his product and his company, is down to earth and generous, and pays it forward to his members and to the community as well as worldwide.

Purification Oil

Young Living’s Purification oil is a blend of  Lavandin, Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Myrtle oils.

Purification oil is wonderful at eliminating odors.   It works well in a diffuser to disinfect and to neutralize smells.  It can be sprayed on smelly sneakers, pet beds, furniture, etc.  It can also be put into the washer to clean stinky clothes.  It disinfects and cleans cuts, scrapes, bites or stings.  I use it when I as though I’m falling below the wellness line.   This has quickly become one of my favorite oils.

Lime Essential Oil

One of Young Living’s citrus oils with many benefits and uses is the Lime essential oil.  Lime is great of course for adding to water to drink or adding to recipes that call for lime juice.  Since lime oil is made from the rind, unlike lime juice which is made from the pulp, the benefits are different and even better.  Lime oil is antiviral, so it is beneficial in strengthening the immune system and keeping you feeling your best.  It is an antiseptic, so it is great for keeping skin in good condition and for helping with occasional skin problems.  Lime is also a disinfectant, which not only helps to keep your body above the wellness line, but can be used in cleaning products.  One great way to help rid your home of chemicals is to make homemade cleaners.  Using lime oil in your cleaners not only smells wonderful, but it disinfects your home too.  Lime oil contains d-limonene, which is found in the rind of citrus oils, and has many health benefits.   Lime oil can be ingested, diffused for a fresh smell in your home, or added to cleaners, recipes, etc.

Twelve Dangers of Using Essential Oils

Twelve Dangers of Using Essential Oils

You will feel healthier.  Drinking Young Living citrus oils helps my stomach and skin to feel better, diffusing oils make me feel happier and more positive, and the benefits definitely keep me above the wellness line year-round.

You will spend less on dr. visits.  My family and I stayed above the wellness line last winter.  Just sayin’.  Even occasional skin problems, ear pain after swimming, and starting to fall below the wellness line were eased with my oils.

Your house will smell better and feel cleaner.  There is nothing like a little Purification oil and Lemon oil, whether diffused, sprayed, or made into a scrub to make my house smell better and look cleaner.  And those are just two of the oils that can be used in your home, all chemical and toxin free.  100% pure oil.

You will sleep better.  I have the occasional night of tossing and turning, but Young Living Stress Away oil helps me sleep more soundly.

You will panic if you’re diffuser isn’t running.  Like I said, having my diffuser running makes me feel better.  Maybe because the oils are so good for my mood and keep me healthier, but also because I know I’m putting good things into the air.

You will find excuses to spend money on oils.  I am trying only to buy one or two oils at a time, but each time I read about a new one I haven’t tried, I add it to my wish list.  I figure it’s a good investment in my family’s health!

Your husband and kids will start using your oils.  I love having my son come up and ask where the lavender oil is.  Or having my husband ask for Stress Away before bedtime.  Having them come on board makes it even more exciting to have Young Living oils in my home and as my business.

Your friends and family will start asking lots of oil questions.  I love sharing my love of oils with friends and family.  And I’m pleased when they start asking questions and using samples I give them.  Why not share these wonderful oils with everyone, right?

You will find new uses for your oils daily.  There is so much information online, among other users, and through your Young Living family on new ways to use oils.  And I love hearing peoples’ success stories.

You might actually start liking the smell of oils you never liked at first.  I didn’t like the smell of Frankincense at first.  After using it on my face each night, I like it now.  My son still doesn’t prefer the smell of lavender, but when he feels like he’s falling below the wellness line, he puts it on his feet to support his immune system.

You will get overly excited when an oil “works” for something.  I love hearing success stories.  I give out samples when I can and ask people to use them and report back to me.  It’s exciting to hear how these oils really do benefit wellness.  And of course, I love when I or my family use an oil and having success with it.

You might find yourself at the start of an exciting new business.   I don’t know how many testimonials I’ve heard of people who bought the Young Living starter kit just to get the oils or the yearly discount.  Then they started sharing their oils with others, which turned into a business.  I, on the other hand, went into this hoping to start a new business, and I’m glad I did.  I love Young Living oils, and I love watching other people get excited about them too!

I can’t say enough good about the Young Living Company, the oils and products themselves, or the people that I have already met in starting my business.  If you’re interested in learning more, becoming a member, ordering products, or if you have any questions, please contact me at Julie@oilyriser.com.  Thanks!

Lemon Juice vs. Lemon Oil

Lately people have been asking me if there is any difference between lemon juice and lemon essential oil.  Oh yes, there is.  Lemon juice that can be purchased in the store is made from the pulp of the juice.  The same result you get from squeezing lemon into your water.  However, lemon essential oil is made from the rind of the lemon.  The rind is what contains a very important component for your health called d-limonene.  If you haven’t heard of d-limonene, you should google it right now.  It’s great stuff.  So good for you.   Our bodies can be full of so many toxins, and those affect our health.  Drinking essential oils is a great way to rid the body of toxins.  The rind is also much less acidic than the pulp, so it’s much easier on your teeth and your stomach.  One bottle of Young Living lemon essential oil contains the rind of approximately 75 lemons.  That’s pretty potent!  Young Living lime, orange, and grapefruit oils are the same.  They are made from the rind and are very healthy at keeping you above the wellness line.   And Young Living now carries a Vitality dietary line which can be ingested.  I love drinking a drop or two of citrus oil in my water.  It is great for detoxing, energizing, uplifting my mood, promoting healthy skin, aiding in normal digestion, and supporting a healthy immune system.  By the way, these citrus oils are great to use in homemade household cleaners.  They give you a chemical-free, toxin-free way to clean, and they give a fresh smell to any room you use them in.  I also love to use lemon or orange oil in my diffuser to give my kitchen a clean smell.   Young Living citrus oils are inexpensive and are 100% pure oil.

Why I Chose Young Living

I am a frugal person.   I do not like to spend a lot of money on things.   My husband feels that “you get what you pay for,” so sometimes we are in disagreement about things to purchase.  A few years ago, I never would have invested in my health by buying essential oils, not to mention top-of-the-line oils.  But as I started  learning more about essential oils and the benefits they provide, I started to realize that not all essential oils are created equal.   A trusted, knowledgeable  family member who had researched oil companies explained to me that Young Living is the only company that has the Seed To Seal Promise.  This means that they are in control of every part of the oil, from the seed that is planted to the seal put on the final bottle, and they promise its superior quality.  They own farms all over the world and grow their own plants.  They partner with other farms that hold to their strict Seed to Seal guidelines.  They are particular about the condition of the soil that their seeds go into, and they make sure the seeds that get planted are the best they can be to produce the highest quality oils.  The crops are never sprayed with toxins or chemicals, and the plants are harvested when they are in perfect condition.  They are distilled without additives, and each oil goes through rigorous testing in state-of-the-art facilities, even outsourced for testing,  before they are ready to have the Young Living seal.   Each bottle of oil is 100% pure oil.   Nothing else is in that bottle except what the name says on the outside.   I realized a few months ago that if I was going to get serious about using essential oils, I wanted to make sure I was getting a great product.  As I have started using Young Living oils regularly, I feel good knowing that I am using a high-quality product.  They carry a very wide variety of single oils, oil blends, and products for home, pets, and personal care.  I also enjoy being a distributor because I started with a wonderful kit of 11 different essential oils and a diffuser to learn with, and I am enjoying sharing my excitement about essential oils with others.  Plus I get free oils along the way!

What Are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that come from plants, herbs, and trees.  I love that they are a natural, God-given way for us to improve our health.  They are  potent, effective, powerful, and can be used for aromatherapy, in household products, and in personal care.  Young Living oils are 100% pure oil, and are handled with the Seed to Seal process, which ensures that everything from the seeds that are planted to the bottles of oil that we enjoy are the best they can possibly be.   Essential oils can work to support each system of our bodies, improving overall wellness, with many different benefits.  These oils can be inhaled, ingested, topically applied, or diffused.   Some oils come in singles, which are just the individual oil, such as lavender or frankincense or lemon.  Some oils come in blends, such as Thieves or Stress Away or Purification, which are blends of oils that work well together and complement each other.  YL also carries oil-infused products for your home or personal use.  The possibilities are endless.

Single Oils vs. Oil Blends

Single oils are just that, a single oil, taken from a seed, plant, or tree, then bottled in it’s 100% pure form.

Blends, on the other hand, are two or more oils blended together.  Gary Young spends much time and energy studying the effects of blending certain oils together, oils that compliment each other and work well together, to give extra support to your body.

About Me

My name is Julie.  I’m a stay-at-home, home schooling mom.  I’m blessed with a great husband and two teenage boys.  I am an early riser, and I love to start my day with Jesus, a cup of coffee, and my essential oils.   I enjoy baking, reading articles about health and nutrition, bike riding, being at home, and spending time with my family.   Recently, I have started trying to find better ways to live healthier and promote wellness, for myself and my family.  Young Living essential oils are a natural, God given way to do just that, which is why I decided to become a distributor with YL.   I am so excited to learn about oils, to use them often,  and to help other people learn as well.  I started using essential oils a few years ago, falling in love with and finding many uses for Lavender and Thieves, which continue to be my two favorites and absolute necessities in my home.  I am trying new oils each month, and I love the versatility of each oil.  My goal is to continue to educate myself and others, and to grow my business.
